2.1 Overview
The Joint Master’s in Leadership Education in Disability & Inclusion is a joint, English-taught postgraduate program of the University of Thessaly, implemented in collaboration with Georgetown University. The program operates in accordance with the applicable regulatory framework governing postgraduate studies and leads to the award of a Master’s Degree.
The program focuses on the development of scientific knowledge and leadership skills related to supporting individuals with disabilities, as well as the design and evaluation of policies, practices, and systems in fields such as education, healthcare, social services, administration, and public policy.
It responds to contemporary social and institutional needs by addressing complex issues related to access, participation, and the functioning of services and organizations. Its objective is to educate professionals capable of developing, implementing, and evaluating evidence-based interventions and policies in both national and international contexts
Interdisciplinary Approach
The program has a strong interdisciplinary and cross-sectoral character, integrating approaches from fields such as education, psychology, health sciences, law, management, technology, and social policy. Particular emphasis is placed on linking theory with practice, as well as on the use of scientific data and research methods to support decision-making and action planning.
Structure and Mode of Study
The duration of the program is four (4) academic semesters of full-time study, corresponding to a total workload of 120 ECTS credits. The language of instruction is English, and the educational process is delivered entirely through distance learning methods, in accordance with the program’s operational regulations.
During their studies, students attend courses, complete academic assignments, and prepare a Master’s thesis. The program combines theoretical training, applied research, and the development of professional skills, aiming to prepare graduates who can respond to demanding professional environments and contribute to the improvement of organizational and social processes.
Learning Outcomes
Graduates of the program acquire specialized knowledge and skills in the design, implementation, and evaluation of policies and interventions, as well as in the analysis of complex issues across different institutional and social contexts.
